Osman REFAH, Murat DİLEK ve Samet AKTAŞ who were the students of Prof. Muhammet Kösecik ‘s questions were replied by Mr. KURT as follows:
As the International Non Governmental Initiative Newspaper we are going to talk briefly mentioning our mission and want you to know that we will answer your questions in line with our mission.
Our newspaper was born from Capital & International Peace and Brotherhood Platform’s body which is the media organ promoting a common ground, hosting a combination of free thought within opposing ideas of the whole of humanity under the Non-Governmental Organizations and Civil Initiative will. Capital & International Peace and Brotherhood Platform is the inspiration for our mission and today we are able to reach all over the world to the countries under the umbrella of the United Nations together with our Newspaper and and NGOs, (over 900).
Capital & International Peace and Brotherhood Platform is a source of inspiration in this discipline; which has undertaken important work in publicizing many different topics and the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of social responsibility projects. We are a media organ in the same discipline at the same platform; our Mission is; From the universal values point of view; to promote and develop human values, to work in accordance, to announce the activities and opinions of civil society organizations to the public and aim to contribute to the promotion and application of the projects.
Upon these attributes as Non Governmental Initiative Newspaper with a general perspective, we announced to the public through you that the questions will be answered freely.
1. What are your thoughts about the power of media bodies on politics and public in Turkey?
. We regard media organs and media members as separate forces in separate areas. Namely, the media organs are the institutional structures that have power on free and dependent ideas that have the employees working in accordance with their rules.
Whereas, members of the media, no matter at what kind of media organs they are working, they are social engineers of the public, through which they are able to be as powerful as possibilities offered by media organs due to the reasons such “reducing the resolution of the image that is transferred’’ In order to expressed it more clearly, we attach more importance to independent media organs of the media professionals before media organs. Definition of power should be discussed about its impact on politics and public opinion upon these criteria. Within Political public domain areas we give importance to the Civil Will and Free Idea, that confirm the confidence of the public media organs. Since the
construction of Multi-Party Turkey, Political power has received its strength from the public so far and the public bodies has either reduced or reinforced the trust with the media organs. Members of the media has clarified the resolution of the image with its facilities. The resolution of the images is related to the public awareness. If you want to get a clearer answer to your question, politics and media organs in Turkey are constantly changing hands at different times, but the public and media members are in the form of a balanced integration. That is why, the balance of media power on politics and public opinion is going on according to fate depends on events and the time and the in a and the in Turkey. This fate has usually been realized with Civil Initiatives in public.
2. How do you approach the idea that media organs are directed or attempted to be used as a political tool by parties in Turkey?
First of all, we are strongly against if the majority of the media organs or members are being directed according to the personal interests or in the service of a political party or the ruling government. However, there is no problem in a political party or government; creating a team composed of a media organ with members of their own making their own advertisements. If a political party or the ruling party starts to use media organs or members of the media to direct public awareness with wrong ideas, it means that Civil Initiative has lost its effect and we cannot talk about democratic and broad church there.
3. How do you approach the opinion that media organs and members use the media for their own interests / expectations as an instrument of pressure on the government or political parties?
First of all, we are strongly against if the majority of the media organs or members are being directed according to the personal interests or in the service of a political party or the ruling government. However, there is no problem in a political party or government; creating a team composed of a media organ with members of their own making their own advertisements. If a political party or the ruling party starts to use media organs or members of the media to direct public awareness with wrong ideas, it means that Civil Initiative has lost its effect and we cannot talk about democratic and broad church there. Your question refers to this issue in line with our response, is a matter to be assessed to the balance of forces and in proportion of the public strength. When we look at the issue in terms of the balance of forces, some media organs , of course, are likely to be an instrument of pressure on ruling or political parties. This can be morally or legally judged by public opinion only. If we discuss the issue from the public point of view, we think that the power of media cannot be underestimated as we claimed in our first response. We also share the opinion, without too much exaggerating, that media can be means of pressure from time to time.
4. What are the main problems between media organs and members and ruling and political parties according to you?
Being an international Journal, I would like to response your question under the headings that concerns international public opinion. The worldwide problems between ruling and political parties and media organs and members from our perspective are as follows;
a. There is the problem of the imbalance of interests.
b. the problem of behaving according to the ideology.
c. The balance of power problem.
d. There are communication problems.
e. There is an Empathy problem.
f. The problem of being away from the scientific movements.
The problem of the imbalance of interests: It means To prepare chaos by not to be agreed on a common interest.
The problem of behaving according to the ideology:. The subconscious fanatical behaviors Ruling and Political Parties and Media Organs and Members while communicating .
The balance of power problem: Creating One Power- One Type model to prevent the distribution of power in different areas.
There are communication problems: Interpretation errors of communication between ruling and political parties and media organs and members.
There is an Empathy problem: The problem of forgetting the Civil Initiative rules by ruling and political parties and media organs and members .
The problem of being away from the scientific movements: Resolution analysis of ruling and political parties and media organs and members of the events are customized and are away from scientific techniques.
5. What do you think about media organs and members’ impartiality or their way of acting in accordance with a political party or a political approach?
You will appreciate that all media disciplines proclaims their neutrality . In practical it may not work. We in our newspaper accept and work principles of neutrality as a general discipline, we have been handed over ourselves to the civil initiatives in accordance.
In this case, we are obliged to answer all questions within the framework of multiple views rather than give a single answer. Thus, the best analysis on a topic has already been supported by social science analysis. Every single moment social way of acting changes so do the answers in accordance. We would like to answer this question neutrally without detailed by sharing two approaches of us. We may share our opinions widely at another platform later on.
While discussing an issue as right or wrong, we shouldn’t forget that it may vary. Being right or wrong vary according to the science, culture, religion and human beings. We are as a media organ within the frame work of a civil initiative answering the debate of right or wrong not based on our thoughts but world society, universal cultural values.
We belive in that neutrality of Media Organs and members is right and it would bring right knowledge to humanity.
Wheras political party or approach sided point of view of the media organs and members vary in relation with the society they address. If media members are autonomous as a national media, it might not be awkward according to the political ruling power because as the mass majority has the common approach. But, if a media organ voicing the minority is being precluded, it would be wrong according to the universal values. If it is an international media organ we are mentioning, its neutrality is important for world’s society and us. If it demonstrate biased attitude as oligarchs of the oligarchy It is wrong according to the world community and our values.
